NON-STANDARD USE OF THE GUIDE TO REMOVE THE BRIDGE PROSTHESIS

The patient came to the clinic with the unsatisfactory situation with the bridge prosthesis on implants. CT scan revealed the disintegration of one of the implants, which was the support of a massive non-removable structure.

Due to long-term use of cement fixation, it was not possible to remove the bridge by traditional methods.

It was decided to drill the channels in the prosthesis frame to access the abutment screws. For this purpose, a guide was created in the ImplaStation software with the support to the bridge prosthesis. The holes in the guide were aligned with the axes of the abutments.

Drilling of the bridge was made according to the specified pattern of directions with carbide cutters without using guide sleeves.

After accessing the abutment screws, they were unscrewed and the prosthesis were removed together with the abutments and the disintegrated implant.

Thus, with the help of the guide, it was possible to cut down the time and labor costs of the doctor, to reduce the consumption of the cutting tool.

This method also makes it possible to use the removed construction as a temporary bridge prosthesis.

The case is provided by Dr. Christopfer N Hart, Melbourne, Australia.
